Traveller information

The Solomon Islands are located in the South Pacific, east of Papua New Guinea. A trip to the 100 or so islands that make up the Solomon Islands is like travelling back in time. Much of the land’s unique beauty has been untouched by the ravages of tourism, and much of the damage caused by fierce fighting in WWII has been reclaimed by the jungle or the waves. There is so much stunning scenery spread out across the huge expanse of the Solomon Islands that it’ll be difficult to fit it all into one trip.

Large parts of the islands are covered in emerald green forests and rainforests, dotted with tropical flowers, wildlife and native peoples who still live in leaf-hut settlements on the forest floors. These jungle treks are interspersed with exotic mangrove swamps infested with crocodiles to step gingerly around before you suddenly burst out onto the bare expanse of a volcanic mountain. The Solomon Islands boast massive eco-diversity and a burgeoning eco-tourism industry will let you get a glimpse into these exciting wildernesses. It’s also on and beneath the waves that the islands succeed, with gorgeous lagoons and sunken WWII relics for diving and snorkelling.
