Traveller information
Welcome to Lebanon, a country pressed up against the Mediterranean Sea in an area of ancient history. The modern life of cosmopolitan Beirut is mixed up with the crusader ruins of Byblos or the ancient ruins of Tyre at Sur. With a long collection of stunning beach resorts, the region’s most eccentric city, Beirut, and the welcoming warmth of a people who continue to strive on in the face of numerous struggles, Lebanon is full of woozy temptation for your eyes, nose and stomach that’ll leave you with a different feeling about this part of the world.
Your trip will begin in Beirut, but there is much to do see and do in Lebanon so here are the top attractions. First off, you should visit the National Museum of Beirut which houses many artefacts of Lebanon’s rich history. From old to new, head to Zaitunay Bay, the crowning 21st-century jewel of Beirut. Wander the marina and sample delicious seafood while gazing enviously on at the yachts docked nearby. If there’s anywhere else in Lebanon you should visit, it’s Byblos. A short 30-minute jaunt up the gorgeous coast and you’ll set eyes on Byblos Old Town, where a teeming Souk and majestic ruins give you a glance of the peoples who once ruled this land.
