Traveller information

Kuwait is a unique country nestled between Saudi Arabia and Iraq. Due to its distance from the Asian travel hubs, there are fewer tourists in Kuwait which provides you with a more authentic experience of this ancient land. The capital is Kuwait City, a modern metropolis with the Avenues providing 21st-century shopping and the Souk Al-Mubarakiya offering you a glimpse of how commerce has always worked in this part of the world. Outside of the city lies a spattering of other towns and villages, but most of Kuwait is comprised of blazing hot desert. It can be worthwhile to take a day trip out of the city into the dizzying dunes, only to return to the cool comforts of Kuwait City for a dinner by the Marina.

Past the glitz of the city, there is much more stirring beneath the surface of Kuwait City. Surrounded by desert, the place resembles the old oases that once acted as the lifeblood of the country. Check out the Tareq Rajab Museum of Islamic Arts which houses a brilliant collection of ethnographic items, or the Bait Al Outhman Museum to learn about Kuwait’s recent history. Beyond its museums are wide open natural spaces, including the Al Shaheed park and Al Kout Beach.
