Traveller information

Known as the Spice Island, fragrant nutmeg trees scent the balmy breeze of this Caribbean country. Laid-back, colourful buildings dot its hilly main island and surrounding small islands, and it’s blessed with soft sandy beaches, lush greenery, and an abundance of fruit.

Capital St. George’s is known for the picturesque, narrow Carenage harbour, brightly-painted houses, and stately colonial architecture including the imposing Fort George, built in the early 18th century. Just north of the city you’ll find the Underwater Sculpture Park, a unique project and dive site which sees works of art placed at the bottom of the sea to slowly grow into biodiverse artificial coral reefs. Currently, there are more than 80 sculptures in the area, running shoulders with living sponges and vivid-hued fish. Tour the delicious-smelling Diamond Chocolate Factory to learn about this iconic Grenada export. Go hiking in the emerald-green, fairytale Grand Etang National Park, where lush greenery gives way to gushing rocky rivers, or relax on soft white-sand beaches at Morne Rouge Bay. Underrated Carriacou Island is one of the best places to sample authentic Grenada life, and has some fantastic beaches. Head to Grand Anse Beach, in the south of the main island, for resorts and dining.
