Traveller information

This beguiling country made up of over 17,000 islands will entrance you with its rich culture, history and wildlife, each destination offering a unique experience. For nature lovers, visit Komodo National Park, home of the famous dragon, or the forests of Borneo to see orangutans in their natural environment. The landscape is as stunning as it is diverse – from the dazzling white beaches of Bali to the breathtaking volcanic terrain of East Java, you will never tire of the ever-changing scenery.

For culture lovers, visit Borobudur Temple, the world’s largest Buddhist temple set on a mountain in central Java. Be captivated by traditional dance displays or try the local arts of batik or silver jewellery making at Ubud in Bali. In the capital Jakarta, visit the National Museum which houses a vast collection of Indonesian artefacts from pre-history to the present day, including ceramics, textiles and puppets. No visit to the capital is complete without a trip to the markets of the old town to pick up local handicrafts, or try one of the many styles of Indonesian food from the stalls on Merdeka Square cooked fresh as you wait.
