You could spend a couple of years on holiday in India and still not be able to tour all of its territory and see all of its attractions. But, since we know you don’t have unlimited time to explore this country, here are three points of interest to include in your visit:
- The Taj Mahal. It is one of the most iconic constructions in the world. This ancient mausoleum, built by Emperor Shah Jahan, is considered one of the new 7 wonders of the world. It is located in Agra, a city in the north of the country.
- Jaisalmer “the golden city”. The nickname of this city is due to the sandstone with which it is built. This site is located in the middle of the great Indian desert, in the northwest of the country. In addition to the Maharaja Mahal Palace, inside the city there are nine temples and a museum that you cannot miss.
- Temple of the Great Awakening. In the northwestern Indian state of Bihar, this sacred site is found in the Buddhist tradition. It is the place where Siddhartha Gautama attained enlightenment, becoming Buddha. For over two thousand years, it has been the destination of one of the major pilgrimages of the Buddhist religion.
With its scents, flavors, ancient culture and spectacular landscapes, this country, the second most populous and one of the largest in the world, is a must-see destination. Pack your bags.
