Nauru

Just 21 square kilometres, the island of Nauru is one of the best-kept secrets in Micronesia. Isolated in the Central Pacific Ocean, the nearest country to Nauru is Banaba Island, followed by the Solomon Islands and the Marshall Islands.

Surrounded by a coral reef, the island offers spectacular views of the ocean and unrivalled fishing, scuba diving and snorkelling opportunities. In fact, the reefs surrounding the island are so vast that only smaller vessels are able to make their way to shore.

Despite its natural beauty, Nauru is one of the least visited countries in the world. Its remote location may have put some tourists off but the secluded nature of the island is a paradise for many. Whilst Nauru may not be as developed as some of the other islands in the Central Pacific, it is ideal for intrepid travellers who want to explore unknown and unspoilt lands.

With crystal-clear waters, unique rock formations and diverse marine life, it’s only a matter of time before Nauru becomes a well-known spot on the tourist trail. Until then, the people of Nauru will continue to welcome the tourists who step off the beaten track and find paradise in the Pacific.
